Abstract
The problem of dissipative normal impact of a linearly elastic pseudo-rigid
ball on a sinusoidally oscillating rigid foundation is considered. This problem
yields a four-dimensional smooth impact map that produces
sticking, regular and chaotic responses. Parameter values that furnish
such responses are identified with the aid of a perturbation analysis.
